Kelson's a twelfth century king, and as such his canon deals with sensitive, triggery material. I'll do my best to warn, but think of Kelson's canon like Catholic Game of Thrones. He's seen some messed up shit. — FIRST IMPRESSIONS —

APPEARANCE Kelson a fit young man with black straight hair that goes well past his shoulders. He normally wears it in a four strand box braid that doubles back up on itself. He has gray eyes. He's lean, slenderly built, with muscle built up from near constant warfare and training.

CLOTHING Kelson's wardrobe favors reds and golds, a mix of finer shirts and pants with boots, and a more relaxed sweater/pant combo.

DEMEANORKelson demeanor can vacillate between utterly relaxed, slightly slouched with a happy smile, and utterly straight, muscles taught, outwardly distant. The latter is the one you are more likely to find him in, as he falls back on his training as crown prince/heir apparent and king by default. You will have to coax him to relax.

AURAL Depending on his relationship with you, his speech can tend toward very polished and diplomatic with a stern edge, and that of much more relaxed. Kelson's accent is a mix of queen's english and welsh.

OLFACTORYHe's an 17 year old boy, how do you think he smells? That being said, he does love a bath and you will positively have to drag him out of the hot water. So, teenage boy and soap, with a bit of leather if he's been riding.

Clarisentience Kelson can use his mind to get basic information on something, whether it's the innards of a lock, or to see if a drink is poisoned. He can also use this ability to enhance his other senses, like eyesight.

Combat He's a 12th century king. He can use weapons and fight. He's partial to a broadsword and a bow.

Conjury Kelson can conjure light, fire, lightning and water as well as ritual magic. He also has the ability to conjure destructive illusions based on his own imagination. He's also....blotted out the sun and made people melt in a ray of sunshine. Most of this is specific to his Haldane Potential rather than Deryni heritage, which means he doesn't know how to do it until absolutely necessary.

Mind Influence Deryni can influence another individual, ranging from telling them to go take a walk, forget a conversation or jump off a cliff. He can also use this to blur traumatic memories and to banish fatigue in himself or someone else for a short time(this is cumulative, and can only be used so many times before the fatigue catches up and the person collapses with exhaustion). This may require touch contact.

Mind Ripping Kelson can fry your mind into a blob of jello. Thankfully Kelson has really good control over this ability. Unlike some of his relatives, who left accidental bodies in their wake when they got mad.

Rapport He can mind meld. This may require touch contact.

Shields Kelson has magical shields which enable him to defend against some psychic attack. He can raise or lower them as necessary. However, like anything, shields can be worn or forced down, or by drugs that disrupt magical ability. Brute force however, is liable to leave damage, just like banging someone’s head against concrete would.

Sleep/Pain and Emotion Control He can put someone to sleep, control pain and suppress emotions. He's better than ambien and a great anesthesiologist. This requires touch contact.

Telekinesis Kelson can move small/light objects with his mind, whether it's a bottle of wine or pushing down to keep a heart pumping. Or squeezing it it bursts.

Telepathy Deryni are capable of mind speech. This is a wide band frequency and can be overheard by others. Longer distances require more power. He can also do this to communicate with others while they sleep.

Truth Reading He can tell when people are lying or telling the truth with very little effort. Half truths and evasiveness are harder to read.

Truth Saying Kelson can literally force the truth out of people.

Weaknesses: Blocking Kelson's magical abilities can literally be turned off if you know where to look in his brain. He has an off switch.

Weaknesses: Merasha/Mage Bane Kelson is extremely sensitive to anything that disrupts magic, as well as some sedatives. It will most likely incapacitate him at best or kill him at worst. It's also super duper painful. Read more here
